API v2 envelope workflow

Create, populate, and send documents programmatically.

Before you start

• An API token stored server-side
• A webhook endpoint for completion events

1. Authenticate

   Send your API token as a bearer token from your server. Never call the API from a browser.

2. Create the envelope

   Create a document or start from a template, then upload the file content.

3. Add recipients and fields

   Add recipients with their roles and routing order, then add the fields each must complete.

4. Send the envelope

   Send the document and store the returned identifier alongside your own record.

   Result: The workflow starts and recipients are notified.

5. React to events

   Use webhooks to update your system when the document is completed, rejected, or expires.
